A teen-centered counseling service in Dallas seeking to break down the barriers around Birth Control Discussions

Our project aimed to address the challenges teens face in accessing birth control due to prevalent stigma and limitations in sexual health counseling systems. In a nimble team of 3, we designed and prototyped a modular "counseling in a box" service that caters to various settings, from in-person setup around the city to virtual counseling.

The brand-forward service prioritizes consent and approachability, offering a safe space for teens to ask questions and seek guidance. Through extensive community research, we identified guiding insights that shaped our awareness, counseling and navigation tools. Recognizing the need for additional support, especially after the discontinuation of Title X benefits in Texas, we expanded the counseling program to involve parents in the conversation about birth control.

The project journey involved workshops, refined counseling services, and a pivotal pop-up events at the colleges across Dallas, validating the pressing need and the effectiveness of our solutions. The end outcome is a comprehensive counseling service that empowers teens and involves parents, fostering a supportive environment for informed decision-making around birth control in Dallas.
